We are seeking a full-time Field PTA  based in Houston. The PTA taking on this role will assist in preparing clinical notes and progress reports and participate in educating the patient and family and provide inservice programs while performing services under the supervision of a licensed PT.

Physical Therapy Assistant Job Responsibilities:

  • Promotes and maintains health by providing physical therapy services under the supervision of a physical therapist.
  • Contributes to a physical therapist’s effectiveness by identifying patient care issues.
  • Administers treatment programs for patients.
  • Assesses patient health by interviewing patients, performing physical examinations, and obtaining updating, and studying therapy histories.
  • Evaluates abnormal conditions by reviewing physical therapist’s interpretations of patient evaluations and test results.
  • Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
  • Performs therapeutic procedures by administering manual exercises and instructing, encouraging, and assisting patients in performing physical activities, such as non-manual exercises, ambulatory functional activities, and daily-living activities.
  • Helps patients in using supportive devices, such as crutches, canes, and prostheses.
  • Instructs and counsels patients by describing therapeutic regimens, giving normal growth and development information, and promoting wellness and health maintenance.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations, and adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
  • Maintains production objectives by noting current treatment trends and monitoring actual physical therapy services rendered to production objectives.
  • Maintains legal and accreditation compliance by adhering to policy positions concerning federal, state, and local regulations and JACHO standards.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading periodicals, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
  • Enhances physical therapy reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

Therapy SPOT - Bellaire: Orthopedic Physical Therapist Job Opening

 

We are searching for a highly motivated Orthopedic Physical Therapist who values evidence-based practice and is committed to learning to join our team. The therapist would be able to set his or her own hours/schedule. Our team currently consists of 3 PTs, 3 PTAs, 2 OTs, 1 COTA, and 1 SLP.  At Therapy SPOT – Bellaire, there are mentorship opportunities for various treatment areas including orthopedics, sports, neurological, pediatrics, vestibular, oncological therapies as well as ultrasound imaging, dry needling, manual therapy, and pain science. Therapists also have access to business mentorship, and will learn how to facilitate efficient treatment, safety, billing, and compliance within the facility. Base salary provided plus bonuses for productivity are offered. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from accredited physical therapy program 
  • Licensed by Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners
  • Current American Heart Association BLS CPR certification 

Experience

  • Preferred minimum one (1) year physical therapy experience; highly qualified new graduates will be considered
  • Preferred experience in outpatient orthopedic setting
  • Ideally have manual therapy experience 
  • Ideally have Sahrmann Movement Impairment Syndrome experience 

Job Responsibilities

  • Thoroughly and efficiently evaluate new patients
  • Develop plans of care tailored to the individual patient 
  • Maintain timely and quality documentation as per legal regulations 
  • Provide quality and evidence-based care to all patients 
  • Supervise and offer direction to PTAs, PT students, interns, and volunteers 
  • Communicate with and maintain ongoing relationships with physicians 
  • Assist the clinic manager with day-to-day operations
  • Maintain proper scheduling of patients for maximum treatment efficiency 
  • Provide education to patients and caregivers 
  • Maintain an attitude of flexibility with additional duties as assigned from time to time 
  • Follow all safety and ethical practice guidelines as indicated in the employee handbook 
  • Manage an 8 hour schedule with at least 12 patients/day 

Job Continuing Education Requirements

  • Work as a Clinical Instructor for incoming students 
  • Receive advanced certification within 2 years of hire (Dry Needling, Diagnostic Ultrasound, Fellowship in Manual Therapy, Orthopedic Board Certification) 
  • Attend several continuing education classes/year and apply knowledge to clinical practice
